Keep On Top of Any Unwanted Lockdown Gains

The COVID-19 enforced lockdown has presented us with an enormous amount of challenges as we have been forced to become accustomed to a whole new way of life in such a short space of time. Working from home, socialising via video call and finding new ways to keep ourselves fit have been just some of the issues of 2020.

With gyms and sports settings closed, along with many of us told by the government to shield at home during these unprecedented times, keeping fit has not been easy. Yes, Joe Wicks has done his best to keep the nation active every morning but, to be honest, many of us would much rather just sit down on the sofa with a cuppa and enjoy watching him get hot and sweaty.

Keeping Fit Has Been a Struggle

Keeping fit has been a struggle and not just because of the lack of opportunity there has been to exercise, but no doubt many of you reading this have been lacking in motivation. With everything that has been going on during the pandemic, it is quite understandable and just because Jenny from down the road has come out of lockdown with toned abs doesn’t mean that you have to feel guilty about being a little bit cuddlier than you were at the start of lockdown.

Besides, the devil is in the detail and if you have happened to gain a little bit of weight, we won’t tell and neither will these fantastic Sloggi Control Maxi Briefs with magical tummy-hiding powers. Wearing them, you’ll benefit from the appearance of a smooth abdomen from the underwear’s high-waist and V-shape fit.

Made from a soft and stretchy blend of cotton and lycra, they will be perfect if you are feeling a little self-conscious about any extra padding, providing you with a flattering fit that will keep you looking great and feeling even better - so take that, Jenny!

Hitting The Gym or Working Out at Home

Now that gyms and other sports settings are slowly reopening in conjunction with government advice, you can now start to think about getting back into a fitness regime. However, if you still do not feel comfortable getting back in the gym, you do not have to go simply because they are open once more. As we have already said, these are unprecedented times and you shouldn’t beat yourself up for not having that same drive to get into the gym that you would have normally.

Even if you weren't exactly a religious gym goer before lockdown, that is okay, too. Gyms aren’t for everyone and we completely understand that, which is why we have put together some quick fitness tips you can do from the comfort of your home:

Home Workouts With and Without Equipment

If you want to burn away some of that excess baggage you have gained during the lockdown, you can do so just by dedicating 20-30 minutes every other day working out at home. If you have a set of dumbbells or, even better, a cardio machine such as an exercise bike then great but, if not, you can still get in a great workout with no equipment at all.

HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) workouts are the best if you want to burn as many calories as possible in as little time as possible. We have already mentioned the lovely Joe Wicks once, but as well as his PE lessons you can find a wide range of HIIT videos on his YouTube page, both with and without equipment. Make sure to have a bottle of water to hand, because HIIT workouts will make you sweat like you never have before. If you haven’t been very active during the lockdown, we recommend working your way up through difficulty, beginning with the shorter workouts to build up your fitness before advancing to the longer videos.

Such high-intensity workouts aren’t for everyone, however, and that is fine. If you are someone that tends to have issues with your joints then high-intensity high impact workouts are probably going to do more harm than good. If that is the case, getting on a bike (static exercise or normal) and just cycling for as long as you can is equally a great workout. If you opt for a normal bike, you can burn away hundreds of calories while discovering some beautiful locations that you otherwise may never have.

Whatever you decide is the best way for you to get the weight off, we can’t recommend the ultra-comfortable Sloggi Control Tai Briefs, available from Need Undies, enough. Not only are they flattering and comfortable during everyday use, but they are also very generous and stretchy which is ideal for working out in. The perfect underwear for whether you prefer to sit and watch Joe Wicks or join in with him!
